Call for poetry chapbook submission from Florida’s Big Bend poets.
Anhinga Press’ Florida Poetry Series will be 30 years old in 2027. And, since Tallahassee is home to Anhinga Press, this call is for Big Bend poets. This includes poets residing in Jefferson, Taylor, Dixie, Levy, Franklin, Wakulla, Leon, Gadsden, Liberty, and Madison counties only.
Join the ranks of poets in the series including: Lola Haskins, Silvia Curbelo, Mia Leonin, Phil Deaver, Neil de la Flor, Kelle Groom, and Carolina Hospital.
Submit a chapbook of 24-30 pages of poems (not including frontmatter) Single spaced submissions are preferred for poetry MS.
Deadline is July 15, 2026.
Enter using Anhinga Press’ Submittable portal. There is a $3 reading fee. Manuscripts will be chosen by the press directors. The finished chapbook should release in late 2026-early 2027.
Entries must be original poetry in English but not limited to Florida subject matter. Poems previously published in journals and anthologies should be accompanied by an acknowledgments page. Authors may submit multiple manuscripts if each one is accompanied by the reading fee. Previously submitted manuscripts and manuscripts under consideration by other publishers are also eligible. Should your manuscript be accepted by another press, please notify us as soon as possible.
· $395 – Visual Poetry Portfolio Curation & Consultation
Submit up to 75 high-resolution JPEG images of your visual poetry for expert curation. This package includes the selection and sequencing of 50 standout images, along with a thoughtfully written note by Kristine Snodgrass or Karla Van Vliet, a leading voice in visual poetics. Also included is a personalized phone consultation (w Kristine), offering guidance on suitable visual poetry presses and journals for publication. Ideal for artists preparing a manuscript or looking to refine their portfolio for submission. Please allow 8-10 weeks for detailed feedback.
We especially encourage submissions from women, non-binary, and gender fluid folx.
· $70 – Consultation on up to 10 pages of poetry or visual poetry—detailed written feedback by an Anhinga editor. Feedback times will depend on the amount of submissions.
